Day 2 Tuesday August 13

Getting to know each other and ourselves

Today I learned more leadership, but instead of in a global and historical sense I learned about what kind of leader I am. I learned that I am an organized leader because I like order and I can separate right from wrong. Although my leadership personality has its flaws such as being “bossy”, “boring”, and “uptight”, I know how I can fix those flaws by bringing interesting ideas, trying to not be controlling, and to be more calm during stressful  situations.

I found this more interesting than what we did yesterday because we need to know what we can change within ourselves before we can change thisibelieve
the world. I hope I get to learn a bit more about what kind of leader I am over the course of the next few days and then slowly transition into what kind of leader I am within a group.

The activity that stood out the most to me was the presenting activity. I generally don't do well when speaking to new people, so the presenting activity helped with that.

From the activity I learned if you don't know the answer to a question you can divert the conversation to a different topic.  Gavin
The highlight of today was the leadership style activity. In it, we filled out four different questionnaires that asked us about what we enjoyed and what we think is important. The questionnaire with the highest score would correlate to a certain color. And the color would describe your traits, and strengths.

The color I got was yellow and I really learned a lot about myself and what kind of leader I am.

We didn't have any discussions where we were able to practice our debate skills today so it felt like it was not as much fun as the previous day.  We did learn good techniques for public speaking. I learned a few things I need to improve about myself. Overall, day two was productive and good practice.

Today was another fun day where I learned a lot about both myself and the rest of society. We started off with reviewing the concepts we went over yesterday, and then worked on our presentation skills. I found the oral presentation activity productive because I was able to figure out how I can improve my ability to talk to others. I can apply this knowledge to help me form better connections with people around me.

I also found the writing presentation activity beneficial because it helped me learn how to leave a better first impression. This skill can be applied when I want to apply for a summer internship or for a job in the near future. In general, I was able to learn various skills today that I can apply to different scenarios in my life.

There were many fun activities we did today. My favorite was the one where we saw everyone’s different personality along with the advantages and disadvantages.

It showed how everyone can work together toward a common goal using their strengths. Ayush

Today was another iNtErEstinG day. We started getting into the fundamentals of public speaking and further connected with our classmates. We learned quite a bit by each presenting a random on-site topic for one minute, and then critiquing each other on how we presented.

Through this we each learned some unknown bad speaking habits we had and gave us on opportunity to improve on them. This was the highlight of the day.
